With the European season concluded, the Formula One Circus sets down its numerous bags in the city-state of Singapore for the first leg of the seven-race sprint across Asia and the Americas, leading to the season’s finale. The streets of Singapore are therefore on the agenda this weekend, and in addition to being winding and bathed in the artificial light of spotlights, they are treacherous and tricky: all 4 Grand Prix held there so far have been interrupted by the intervention of the safety car.

As they approach this sole completely nocturnal rendezvous of the calendar, it’s Fernando Alonso leading the drivers’ standings. With a 37-point lead over Lewis Hamilton, the Ferrari driver can afford a weekend off, especially given the multitude of his rivals, even though the McLarens and Red Bulls seem potentially faster than the F2012. And also watch out for Kimi Räikkönen, still in the race just one point behind the 2008 World Champion, as we know he can finish a season at full throttle if his car allows him to.

As in 2011, Motorsinside.com will offer you the opportunity to experience the 2012 season’s qualifications in interactive live text. We invite you to follow this qualifying session for the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix, starting at 2:45 PM. Feel free to share your impressions and ask us questions throughout the session, even if we unfortunately cannot publish them all.

N.B.: Motorsinside.com will not broadcast or provide links to stream the practice sessions.
