Charles Pic will receive a 20-second penalty in the race in Singapore
After an overtake under a red flag in Free Practice 3, Charles Pic will be handed a 20-second penalty at the end of tomorrow's race. The Frenchman's Sunday is therefore already significantly compromised.

This morning, in the final minutes of Free Practice 3, Vitaly Petrov hit the wall on the exit of turn 21, destroying his right rear suspension. The Russian driver had no choice but to stop at the pit lane entrance, causing a logical red flag, which meant the end of the session for his colleagues.
During this session interruption, Charles Pic was observed overtaking other cars, which is strictly prohibited. In such circumstances, drivers must immediately reduce their speed and slowly make their way to the pits without considering a potentially dangerous maneuver, such as overtaking.
The commissioners therefore delivered a verdict – unprecedented for a Saturday – consisting of adding 20 seconds to Charles Pic’s race time tomorrow, a penalty roughly equivalent to a drive-through. The Marussia driver will thus start from 22nd place on the grid with a significant handicap to overcome. For information, in 2006, Michael Schumacher committed the same offense during the Hungarian Grand Prix and received a two-second penalty on his qualifying time.
It should be noted that the Frenchman and his race engineer will have to perform a day of “community service” at the request of Jean Todt as part of the FIA’s road safety campaign.
