As numerous rumors circulate about Felipe Massa’s future with Scuderia Ferrari, the Ferrari driver admitted to the Brazilian daily Lance that he was very close to a new agreement with the Reds.

Earlier in the week, the Swiss magazine Blick had claimed that Ferrari was about to keep Massa for another season. But nothing official had so far confirmed this thesis until Massa spoke today to the Brazilian daily Lance: « When nothing is signed, nothing is certain yet. But it won’t be long before my situation becomes clear. »

For Massa, the fact that Ferrari’s President, Luca di Montezemolo, stated that Sergio Pérez would not drive for the Scuderia in 2013, is a step forward towards the renewal of his contract: « This shows that Ferrari is considering continuing with me. »

When asked if he plans to end his Formula 1 career if Ferrari replaces him in 2013, the Brazilian’s answer is clear: « Why not? But I don’t think that will happen in the near future. I plan to continue in Formula 1 as a professional driver with the possibility of winning races. »

Moreover, Massa has no other projects outside of Formula 1: « For the moment, I am only thinking about continuing in Formula 1. And the possibility of that happening is good. »

It seems that an announcement regarding the second Ferrari driver for the 2013 season will be made soon.
