The FIA has ratified the 2013 regulations and calendar
Meeting today, the World Motor Sport Council endorsed the regulations published a few days ago and confirmed, with a few minor details, the provisional 2013 calendar unveiled last week. The meeting report also confirms that the FIA is expected to sign the new Concorde Agreements in October.

A week after a provisional calendar sent to the teams was revealed, and only two days after the publication of the 2013 World Championship regulations, the World Motor Sport Council met today in Paris to set these documents in stone.
This institution of the FIA, chaired by Jean Todt, with its 26 members chosen for four years by the FIA General Assembly, is the most powerful decision-making body of the FIA and generally meets three or four times a year to rule on proposals from the various FIA commissions, beyond the strict framework of F1. This council also includes other well-known names, such as Vijay Mallya, representing India, Nicolas Deschaux, president of the FFSA, as a member and former President of the International Karting Commission, and Bernie Ecclestone, as holder of the commercial rights of Formula 1.
Today, the World Council was expected to study and ratify the recently published calendar and regulations during this meeting, which has been done, with a few details remaining for next year’s race list. Two Grand Prix events have indeed changed dates since the draft: the race in Germany, whose hosting circuit is not specified, is moved up to July 14, and the Belgian event is shifted to August 25, creating a more regular calendar for the European segment with fewer races taking place on consecutive weekends. Consequently, the summer break is reduced to four weeks.
Moreover, the races in Singapore, officially confirmed during the last Grand Prix in the city-state, and Korea are also confirmed, with the only race still pending confirmation being the one expected to take place on the banks of the Hudson River, in the suburbs of New York. The future of this event, which should ultimately be named the Grand Prix of Jersey according to the FIA document, currently remains uncertain, as the promoters have not met contractual deadlines. Additionally, the infrastructures are not completed and must receive approval from the FIA for a Formula 1 Grand Prix to take place.
Finally, the World Council wanted to clarify that discussions on the Concorde Agreements were progressing and should be completed. The President of the FIA confirmed that positive and constructive discussions are ongoing regarding the new Concorde Agreements, and a contract signing is expected by the end of October, notes the meeting minutes.
