Follow the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix qualifying sessions live with interactive text hosted by the Motorsinside.com editorial team, starting at 6:45 am on Saturday.

After Singapore, with its narrow streets, night challenge, and Ferris wheel, it’s time for Japan and the Suzuka circuit, with its wide curves, track crossing, and… its Ferris wheel! The Japanese track is one of the benchmarks on the calendar, its technicality widely praised by the drivers, and, which is no bad thing, the attitude of Japanese fans always noted by the F1 Circus.
As we approach the Japanese Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso is still leading the championship, a position he has held since the European Grand Prix. He is followed by Sebastian Vettel, 29 points behind, Kimi Räikkönen 45 points behind, and Lewis Hamilton 52 points behind. Mark Webber, at 62 points, and Jenson Button, with 3 wins behind the Spaniard and 6 races remaining, seem outpaced but have not given up yet.
As in 2011, Motorsinside.com will offer you live interactive text coverage of the qualifications throughout the 2012 season.
