Sunday: Räikkönen in the points and Grosjean sorry at Lotus

After a promising qualifying session, the Lotus team is downcast. While Kimi Räikkönen, due to an insufficient race pace, has to settle for a sixth place, Romain Grosjean, once again involved in an early collision, retired towards the end of the race.

Kimi Räikkönen – 6th:

Sixth, it’s not the result we were hoping for, but unfortunately we didn’t have the speed to do better today. The start was very difficult; I was alongside Fernando on the straight and he kept edging closer until it was impossible to move over. We lost time here and our second pit stop wasn’t the best, so overall, it was a tough race. The good thing is that we still managed to score points to stay in touch in the championship.

Romain Grosjean – Retirement:

« Since I returned to Singapore, my priority has been to be very cautious at the start, and I was paying attention to Sergio on my left to ensure there would be no contact with him. There was quite a significant speed difference between me and Mark when I entered the first corner, which surprised me, and we collided. It was a stupid mistake. Mark came to see me after the race and was obviously not happy, but I apologized, and we need to move on. We’ll sit down and analyze things again before the next race to see what we can do to improve these situations. In the last laps of the race, the tires were worn out, and we were out of the points, so it seemed sensible to retire. It wasn’t a good day, but we need to look forward to Korea, which is a chance to make amends. »
