Continuation of the Asian tour of this 2012 championship this weekend: after Japan and before India and Abu Dhabi, it’s South Korea’s turn to host the Formula One Circus for the third edition of the Korean Grand Prix. For the drivers, the Yeongam circuit is a synthesis of everything Formula 1 represents: a first sector composed of straights interspersed with hairpins; the second part features some large curves that the track gladiators love; finally, the end of the lap is very winding and takes place in an urban setting – still under construction!

From Japan to Korea, the championship’s landscape has completely changed: Fernando Alonso’s retirement allowed Sebastian Vettel to close the gap to just 4 points behind the Spaniard, in a seemingly much more competitive car than Ferrari. Trailing behind, Kimi Räikkönen, at 37 points, and Lewis Hamilton, at 42 points, seem to have to rely on potential problems from the two double World Champions to catch up fairly within 5 races. It’s even worse for Mark Webber and Jenson Button, who are 60 points or more behind, and who could turn into luxury teammates if this trend continues.

As in 2011, Motorsinside.com invites you throughout this 2012 season to experience the qualifying sessions in an interactive live text format. We invite you to follow this qualifying session for the 2012 Korean Grand Prix, starting at 6:45 AM. Feel free to share your impressions and ask us questions throughout the session, although unfortunately, we won’t be able to publish them all.

N.B.: Motorsinside.com will not broadcast or share links for streaming the tests.
