On the sidelines of the final round of the Formula Renault 3.5 championship at the Barcelona circuit in Spain, Damon Hill drove the 2010 Red Bull RB6 for an exhibition in front of an enthusiastic audience.

The 1996 world champion with Williams expressed being impressed by this experience, having not driven a Formula 1 car since retiring from the discipline in 1999: « What an experience! It’s fantastic to dive back into a world champion Formula 1 car. It’s the first time I’ve been back on the pit lane since the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka in 1999, and it was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. »

The Briton is full of praise for Renault and Red Bull for their joint initiatives to make motorsport a spectacle for the general public, notably through the World Series By Renault organized throughout the year: « It’s wonderful what Renault and Red Bull Racing are doing here, as part of the World Series By Renault. They are helping introduce motorsport to many new fans and I think that’s great. Moreover, they are perfectly educating the new generation of drivers with the 2.0 and 3.5 Formulas. I want to thank them for allowing me to drive the RB6 this weekend. »

In the Formula Renault 3.5 championship, the most coveted as it often allows its participants to move up to Formula 1, like Jean-Eric Vergne for example, it was the Dutchman Robin Frijns who won the title ahead of the Frenchman Jules Bianchi after a turbulent race where the two men collided at the exit of a corner.

Arthur Pic, the other French representative in the discipline, whom we met at the beginning of the month, finished in eighth place in the championship.
