Sunday: Pérez falls short of the points for Sauber

After a disastrous qualifying session, the Sauber team was hoping for a miracle to score points in today's race. Sergio Pérez, true to himself and very aggressive, nearly delivered a great performance. But his 11th place leaves some regrets. Meanwhile, Kamui Kobayashi struggled with his tires all weekend and had an anonymous race.

Sergio Pérez – 11th:

My start went very well and the first laps were good too. I had a good pace, and the car was very fast, but then around the tenth lap I had a problem with the brakes. The pedal became very slow, and I had great difficulties before each braking. It cost me a lot of time, and we didn’t manage to score points here. Regardless of the result, it has been a great experience to race here in front of so many Mexicans. It’s a great track, and I hope we can have this Grand Prix on the calendar for many years to come. Now, we will meet up for the last round to try to achieve fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship next week.

Kamui Kobayashi – 14th:

« Throughout the entire weekend, I had temperature issues and couldn’t optimize my tires. We need to understand why this was the case. The level of grip only increased in the last laps of the race, at the end of a very long stint with the hard tires. It was crazy, and I sincerely hope that we will be stronger in Sao Paulo to finish the season on a high note. »
