Bottas wants to be a main driver at Williams in 2013
The Williams team has not yet officially announced the names of its two drivers for the 2013 season. Valtteri Bottas, the current third driver for the British team, seems well-positioned to claim a spot as a regular driver. In any case, he believes he has the necessary qualities.

As persistent rumors place Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas in the seat of Bruno Senna’s Williams-Renault in 2013, the current reserve driver for the British team asserts his desire to start the next season as a main driver.
For Bottas, this evolution would be a logical next step in his career, after two years spent waiting in the shadows: « I need competition. And Formula 1 is my main objective. I need to drive even more. This year, in the second half of the season, it became increasingly difficult for me to find the right rhythm on Fridays, especially on tracks that were new to me. So, I need to drive even more because it’s becoming difficult to maintain my level and improve under these conditions. »
The Finnish driver, who has the backing of interesting sponsors, believes he is the right option to support Pastor Maldonado next season. However, even the Venezuelan has not yet been confirmed by Williams.
Bottas believes he has the abilities to claim this position and hopes he has been able to prove it to his employer: « I hope they have seen that I was fast. And I know I can give even more than that if I get the chance to drive more often. I wish the team realizes that I can really bring something extra. »
But according to him, it was difficult for him to demonstrate his true qualities on the Fridays allocated to him, and this for various reasons: « It was not always easy to set fast lap times on Friday because I was often tasked with collecting important and useful information about the car. »
If one of the Williams seats is likely to be reserved for Maldonado, the second should be contested between Bottas and Senna. The latter is also mentioned as a credible option at Sahara Force India and Caterham.
