Official: Red Bull will unveil the RB9 on February 3

The Red Bull team, which will present its new car on Sunday, February 3, will finally be on time to allow its RB9 to run in the Jerez tests. Potentially leaving for Ferrari in a similar role, Sebastien Buemi could, as in 2012, be entrusted with part of the development of Adrian Newey's latest creation.

By recently stating that the 2012 title race had compromised the planning of the new car more than they would have liked, Adrian Newey maintained the suspense around the possibility of a development delay on the RB9, which will bear the heavy task of performing as well as its three predecessors.

Finally, the latest creation from Milton Keynes will indeed be ready in time for the first winter tests starting in Jérez (Spain) on February 5th. In fact, the unveiling of the new car for Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber will take place on Sunday, February 3rd, providing an opportunity to see how Infiniti’s promotion to the title sponsor of the Austrian team will be reflected on the livery.

The event could also mark the end of the suspense surrounding Sebastien Buemi’s future in Formula 1. The former Toro Rosso driver, promoted to reserve driver for the Red Bull team in 2012, was aiming for a main driver position for the upcoming season. A candidate for the Force India seat on which he no longer had illusions, the Swiss was announced by Blick as potentially heading to Ferrari, replacing Jules Bianchi as the third driver. The Swiss newspaper now claims that the Vaudois has extended his contract with Red Bull.
