Di Resta surprised not to know his teammate at Force India

While Force India is slow to reveal the name of the person who will support Paul di Resta in 2013, the Scotsman admits to being surprised not to know the identity of his future teammate yet. The Force India driver is nonetheless trying to stay focused on his preparation, hoping to make up for a disappointing end to the 2012 season with the VJM06.

While the seat left vacant by Nico Hülkenberg at Force India seems destined for Jules Bianchi or Adrian Sutil, Paul di Resta, who is preparing to compete in his third season with the Silverstone team, is surprised not to know who his teammate will be for the upcoming season: “I’m surprised there’s still nothing. The team said they would make an announcement in due time […] and I have to respect that,” comments the Scotsman according to Sky Sports.

If he admits that not knowing the identity of his future teammate understandably affects him, he is not too worried: « In the end, I know my job and I am fully focused on what I need to do right now. […] I know my team, my mechanics. There are a few new faces, which means we’ll be even stronger. But I feel pretty good, very positive. I was at the factory and the atmosphere is very good. »

Before worrying about his teammate, Paul di Resta wants above all to make people forget a disappointing end to the season, during which he succumbed to Nico Hülkenberg’s dominance: God knows why, nothing went right at the end of last season. Fundamentally, people always remember the ends of seasons better than the beginnings, and the same goes for crashes. There were good races, the pace was there, but it never worked out. I’ve had moments like this where you just have to dig deeper to eventually get out of it. Hopefully this year will be the right one.

Logically, Paul di Resta is therefore looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the VJM06 which will be presented at Silverstone on February 1st: « Obviously, when something goes wrong, you just want to get back in the car the following weekend and get back at it, but there was this break. All I can say is that I can’t wait to get in the car for the first time in February and resume testing a few days later. »
