Ferrari, Mercedes and Toro Rosso set their presentation dates
While Ferrari will present its new car on February 1, 2013, in Maranello, Mercedes and Toro Rosso will unveil their respective cars on February 4, at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, on the eve of the first winter tests to be held there from February 5 to 8.

If Ferrari had confirmed that the future car of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa would be presented before the first winter tests, the Italian team took advantage of its traditional Wrooom days in Madonna di Campiglio to set the presentation date of its latest creation, which will be unveiled in Maranello on February 1st. Stefano Domenicali, director of the Maranello team, also stated that from an aesthetic point of view, [the 2013 Ferrari] will not be very different from the 2012 car, even though according to the Gazetta dello Sport, the Italian also announced interesting developments in terms of exhausts, with Ferrari pushing the limits of the regulations more than in the past.
On Mercedes’ side, the F1 W04 will be unveiled in the afternoon of February 4th at the Jerez circuit, where it will in all likelihood make its first laps the following day. As the star brand has not scheduled any other public event until then, the presentation of the Mercedes F1 W04 will also mark Lewis Hamilton’s first public appearance in his new colors, likely making the event one of the most anticipated unveilings.
Finally, while Red Bull will unveil its RB9 on February 3 at its home in Milton Keynes, its junior team Toro Rosso will present its STR8 on February 4 in Jerez. Even though the influence of James Key, hired in September 2012 as technical director, is expected to be only moderately felt, Daniel Ricciardo recently revealed in the Italian magazine Autosprint that, upon looking at it more closely, it is very different from the old car. And the Australian added: I believe it is better. In any case, it’s not one of those cars that seems like a carbon copy of the previous one, as if nothing had changed.
The native of Perth also confides that he will have the privilege of discovering this STR8: « I will drive on the first day, February 5th. I can’t wait. The team says everything is going according to plan and we’re on schedule, which is the first thing you want to hear. As for how the car is going to perform, no one will say too much until we hit the track. Even if they tell me it’s better than sliced bread, I won’t get too excited before driving it and feeling comfortable. But we definitely have high hopes. »
