The Williams FW35 will only make its debut in Barcelona
Williams will participate in the Jerez tests starting February 5 with their 2012 car and will wait until February 19, the start of the Barcelona tests, to unveil the FW35 with which Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas will compete in the 2013 championship. The Finn has also revealed that his future vehicle should no longer have the distinctive stepped nose of the 2012 single-seaters.

In 2013, the Williams team will attempt to capitalize on a promising 2012 season during which, even though the results were not always forthcoming, the men from Grove returned to victory for the first time since 2004, a drought never before experienced by the nine-time Constructors’ World Champion team.
If the 2013 regulations follow in the footsteps of those in 2012 and although all teams have ensured the presence of their new cars from the first tests in Jerez, Williams will wait for the second winter testing session, scheduled in Barcelona, to unveil its FW35. Indeed, the single-seater powered by the Renault V8 for the second consecutive year will be presented on Tuesday, February 19, at 08:30, just before the start of the first of the eight days of testing hosted by the Circuit de Catalunya.
The English team specifies, however, that for the Jerez tests starting on February 5, the team will use the 2012 FW34 to test a number of important developments in preparation for the launch of the FW35, adding, however, that the FW34 will sport the 2013 livery.
But while we will have to wait before discovering the shapes of Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas’s next car, the Finn revealed in an interview with Finnish television MTV3 that the FW35 would no longer have the stepped nose, characteristic of most single-seaters in 2012: « With the new rules, the stepped nose is smoothed out. It’s the biggest difference in appearance. The new car is an evolution of last year’s car [even though] there are certain improvements from an aerodynamic point of view, » the Finn confided, adding that the Grove team would focus their attention on seeking traction in turns.
