Saturday: Red Bull could have done even better

The joy was on Sebastian Vettel's side at the end of this qualifying session. The German secures his second pole of the season, his 38th personal pole, putting himself in a good position for tomorrow's race, although it doesn't guarantee a win. Mark Webber, on the other hand, is disappointed not to have been able to make a final attempt that might have allowed him to start higher on the grid tomorrow.

Sebastian Vettel – 1st and 1st:

It was very difficult because the track was half dry and half wet today. So it was hard to find the right balance between pushing and preserving the tires. We opted for the right strategy by coming in to change tires and the pace was there. It was a good Q3 and I’m happy with the result. It will be a long race tomorrow and whoever wins will have done the best job. We tried to preserve the tires today which will help if the race is held in dry conditions. We will see.

Mark Webber – 4th and 5th:

« It’s disappointing to finish 5th. We didn’t have the right timing at the end of Q3. I thought I could do one more lap. We were fast but we were slow when we should have been fast and we couldn’t do a final lap. My time doesn’t reflect the feeling I had in the car today and it’s frustrating when you work hard and know you could have done better. I’m now looking forward to tomorrow’s race, it should be interesting with the weather. »
