Fernando Alonso has fun with the situation at Red Bull
Having retired in the second round of the Malaysian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso regrets not being on the podium, considering he missed a good moment. The Spaniard is indeed amused by the deterioration of relations between the two Red Bull drivers.

The misfortune of some being the happiness of others, Fernando Alonso is delighted with the consequences that the fierce duel between the Red Bull drivers for victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix could have: « Today, since I’m not on the podium, I’m missing a good moment! I will try not to leave them alone again! » joked the Spaniard on Twitter, after the race.
Last week, Fernando Alonso did not hesitate to take a jab at the Austrian team after the Australian Grand Prix, stating that the Red Bull team always finds a good excuse to complain. Therefore, it was unlikely that the Ferrari driver would miss the opportunity to criticize the Milton Keynes team again: “It’s incredible because it is always the team that stands proud, doing everything right and never doing anything wrong, but today we saw the reality,” commented the native of Asturias in the Spanish newspaper *AS*. “That doesn’t happen at Ferrari: we are the most united team. They claim they are, but we could see that this wasn’t the case.”
The collision he had with Sebastian Vettel at the start of the Malaysian Grand Prix, which caused the damage to his front wing, amused the Ferrari driver much less: « Vettel practically stopped in the middle of the corner. He was 10 km/h slower. It was a surprise to find him there. »
If the front wing of the F138 held up during the first lap, Fernando Alonso fully assumes the decision that was made not to pit for a change, even if this decision resulted in the Spanish driver’s retirement, now relegated to sixth in the driver standings, 22 points behind his German rival: « It’s easy to say what we should have done. The wing didn’t seem so damaged, even on television, and we decided to continue because we knew we were going to switch to dry tires on the third or fourth lap. We took a risk and it went wrong, but I think we were really unlucky. »
A mishap all the more regrettable as the Spaniard believes that victory was within reach: « Red Bull didn’t really impress this weekend. They know they have a problem with tire degradation, even Mercedes was still in the fight for the win with 20 laps to go. The podium was practically assured, » says Fernando Alonso.
