Friday: Sauber must refine its settings

Hülkenberg and Gutierrez were happy to be able to drive on a dry track during the second free practice of this British Grand Prix. The Sauber C32 is performing well, but there is room for improvement to aim for good positions on the starting grid for the race.

Nico Hülkenberg – 2nd and 12th:

« We really couldn’t have learned more this morning, particularly because it should be dry tomorrow, but here you never know. However, the situation was the same for all the teams. The second session was good. We were able to switch to dry tires quickly. Obviously, the program was a bit different since we didn’t run in FP1, but I think we managed the situation well. We learned a lot about the tires and had some good stints. The car’s setup can still be improved, but that’s normal after losing time this morning. »

Esteban Gutierrez – 5th and 15th:

This morning was a bit frustrating. It was too wet and we had to wait a long time before we could go out. Tomorrow it should be dry so it didn’t make sense to drive in the wet. Fortunately, it was dry in the afternoon and we completed many laps on the three tire compounds and with different fuel levels, so it’s positive. We had consistent laps and now we need to evaluate the different settings. It seems that Nico’s setup was a bit better in terms of downforce, mainly in the fast corners. So we need to evaluate the data and make a decision for tomorrow’s qualifying.
