Friday: McLaren is still looking for a solution to its problems
McLaren is still looking to make its car faster. New parts were planned for this home Grand Prix, and a significant part of the day's work was therefore to validate them. Data will need to be analyzed to see which ones bring a real benefit and which do not work as hoped.

Jenson Button – 15th and 11th:
Despite the morning session, I think we got the track time we needed this afternoon and we were able to complete the majority of our program, which included evaluating Pirelli’s prototype tires. The car is handling quite well and the balance is good. It’s better than in Canada but we are still far from the right pace. The engineers have a lot of data to analyze, so they will be able to determine if the new parts have brought the expected improvements.
Sergio Perez – 19th and 14th:
The second session was productive. We got a lot of work done, so it wasn’t a day wasted. However, I think we are in a similar position to the last race and we are still far from the front of the pack. We worked on improving the car’s behavior and I think we’ve made a step forward in this area. However, not everything we tried worked correctly.
