Williams victim of a KERS failure in Maldonado’s garage
The British team suffered a KERS failure on Pastor Maldonado's FW35 this morning. Occurring in the pits at 08:30, this incident caused no injuries and, after the team's investigations, did not prevent the Venezuelan from participating in Free Practice 3.

Fifteenth and eighteenth at the end of the first two free practice sessions of the German Grand Prix, held this weekend at the Nürburgring, Pastor Maldonado could have seen his task becoming more complicated following an incident that occurred this morning in the Williams garage: « At 08:30 this morning, the Williams F1 Team suffered a KERS failure on Pastor Maldonado’s car. The car was in the garage at that time. The resulting smoke was quickly and efficiently contained by the team and circuit marshals. No one was injured. The team is currently investigating the causes of this incident and is inquiring about possible damage to Pastor Maldonado’s car. »
In the end, this incident did not prevent Pastor Maldonado from taking part in the third practice session, with the team highlighting the excellent work done by his mechanics, even though the Venezuelan once again had to settle for a distant seventeenth position on the timesheet.
Just like in Barcelona in 2012, where the Williams team suffered a fire just moments after winning the Spanish Grand Prix, the men from Grove acknowledge the solidarity and thank many of their paddock neighbors on Twitter: « Thanks to Force India, Marussia, and Caterham for helping us this morning. »
As a reminder, Williams is participating today in its 600th Formula 1 Grand Prix.
