Grosjean: Lotus Has Solved a Large Part of Its Problems

After finishing the Malaysian Grand Prix just outside the points, Romain Grosjean, without triumphalism, wants to believe in Lotus's recovery for the upcoming races. The Frenchman showed an optimistic demeanor during the press conference.

We didn’t expect him to finish a race, yet Romain Grosjean made it to the end of the Malaysian furnace last Sunday. With a bit more luck, the Frenchman might even have scored the 10th place point.

According to him, this result is only fair after the immense efforts of his team: « I think that without a slight problem at the end of the race, we could probably have closed in and maybe fought for points, but it was good for everyone and as I said, the guys had three sleepless nights in Melbourne, all without really being rewarded. And when we went to Malaysia, they worked very hard again. »

The attitude of the Frenchman has therefore legitimately nothing to do with mere politeness or a facade of optimism anymore. The driver believes more and more in Enstone: « I think we have learned more about our car, and we hope that from now on we will have weekends without any issues, as was the case last Saturday and Sunday; from what we can learn, we can improve and get closer to where we want to be. »

Lotus seems to have eaten its humble pie and already traversed a significant portion of its uphill journey, according to Grosjean: « I think we still have the spirit of conquest in our genes and we can always get back in the fight. We’ve had problems, we’ve solved most of them, and fortunately, we don’t expect any more, so we can move on from here. Of course, Renault is aware that its power unit needs to improve a bit compared to some other manufacturers, but I think that will be sorted out and we can focus on working on our car. »

The Bahrain race could confirm this renewed confidence, while awaiting major developments for the Lotus planned in Spain.
