Saturday: Grosjean will aim for points for Lotus
The two Lotus drivers stopped in Q2 even though the E22 seemed capable of doing better. Grosjean suffered from the yellow flags that appeared following Gutiérrez's off-track excursion, as did Maldonado, who also experienced a fuel issue, which led the race stewards to exclude him from the qualifying session.

Romain Grosjean (No.8) – 4th and 11th
The Frenchman is satisfied with his qualification even though it wasn’t easy with the rain in particular: « This has been a good session for me despite the challenging weather conditions here today – but the rain has certainly been good for my garden! Q1 was difficult, but luckily we used the slick tires at the right time. »
However, not everything was perfect for Grosjean, especially at the end of the session, but he remains optimistic for the Grand Prix tomorrow: « Unfortunately, in Q2, I had a yellow flag at turn 6 otherwise, I think I could have made it to Q3. The car seemed good in qualifying compared to the rest of the weekend and that’s important for us. Everyone did a good job, worked hard and now the car is where I like it to be. I hope it will still be the case tomorrow and that we can push to score points. »
Pastor Maldonado (No.13) – 3rd and 15th [20th on the grid]
The Venezuelan is disappointed with his starting position because he had a good Lotus available for once at Silverstone: « We ran out of fuel during the second part of qualifying which means I had to stop the car on the track. The team is analyzing what happened because otherwise the car seemed good, and we had a good opportunity to be in the top 10. »
