Sunday: Big points for Button and McLaren at home
Jenson Button was hoping for a podium in front of his fans but had to settle for 4th place, which still delighted him. A good performance also from Magnussen, who finished in the points, thus allowing McLaren F1 to score significant points for the Constructors' Championship.

Jenson Button (No. 22) – 4th
The Briton is happy with his performance even though he would have liked to do a bit better with a podium: « Circuits with quick direction changes are not the strength of our car, so I think we can leave Silverstone satisfied with what we accomplished this weekend. It’s nice to have such a great fight with Fernando [Alonso], and it was encouraging to be able to widen the gap on him and Sebastian [Vettel] in the final stint. In the end, I crossed the line just 0.9 seconds behind Daniel [Ricciardo]; if there had been one more lap, I think I could have passed him. »
Even if he doesn’t finish in the top 3, Button is happy with his weekend and wants to thank everyone who supported him: I was so close to finishing on the podium – and I think it would have been nice for the fans to see me up there with Lewis together. I’m sorry it didn’t happen, but I want to thank all the fans and my family, and the whole McLaren team – everyone has been very supportive this weekend.
Kevin Magnussen (No. 20) – 7th
The Dane is thrilled with his McLaren’s performance but knows not to let up: « Today was a good day for the team – we scored 18 points – so we should be overall satisfied because we continue to improve. Moreover, the engineers and mechanics did a fantastic job this weekend. That being said, other teams are also continuing to improve; therefore, our challenge is to make progress faster than the others. »
Magnussen would have liked to do better today at Silverstone but is still happy with his 7th place at the finish: « My race went well – we struggled a bit with the mediums, and we had a much better pace on hards. It’s always frustrating when you drop back a bit in the hierarchy – but I got off to a good start to find myself 3rd, and then I had a hard time keeping the Ferraris and Red Bulls behind. So, as I said, we must be satisfied with the 7th place. But I’m thrilled for Jenson, who was able to secure a nice 4th place for the team. »
