Still searching for its first points in 2014, the Sauber F1 team came close to achieving it during the Hungarian Grand Prix, but ultimately Esteban Gutierrez had to retire and Adrian Sutil finished just outside the points, in 11th place.

Esteban Gutierrez (No. 21) – Retirement

The Mexican was in the points before encountering an issue with his MGU-K, but he prefers to focus on the positives from his Hungarian Grand Prix: « The race started well, as I was able to gain positions at the start. I was pushing as much as possible, trying to drive precisely and consistently. I was able to gain more positions, and everything was going in the right direction. During the safety car period, I pitted for a stop, everything went according to plan. After the restart, I was battling with Kimi and trying to keep him behind me. The pace was good, and I was able to stay with the drivers ahead of me. It was an unfortunate end, but there are a lot of positives to take away from this weekend. »

Adrian Sutil (No. 99) – 11th

Same observation for his German teammate, pleased with the progress shown at the Hungaroring: Finishing 11th means we were very close to scoring a point. It was not an easy race, especially at the start with the challenging weather conditions and the two safety car periods. During the first one, we made our stop. When I arrived at the pits, I had to wait because Esteban hadn’t finished yet. I lost a bit of time, but I fought hard.

Sutil, however, falls short of scoring points by less than a second from the 10th place but prefers to focus on the positive: « In the end, I finished the race in 11th place. In the corners, I was faster than Jenson, but I couldn’t overtake him because he didn’t make any mistakes and pulled away on the straights. However, it was a positive day because we got closer to the teams ahead of us, and that’s what matters. »
