Alonso: « It’s a victory for us » this Hungarian podium
During the FIA press conference, Fernando Alonso spoke after his new podium finish. While the Spaniard is happy with his Hungarian weekend, he hasn't forgotten that the road ahead is still long.

Author of a sensational second place achieved at the end of a thrilling race on the Hungaroring track, Fernando Alonso steps onto the podium again at the Hungarian GP – for the second time this year after China.
« We need crazy races this year to make a podium, and today we took advantage of this opportunity » he said after the race.
Fernando Alonso was very satisfied at the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he managed to maintain his second position. He acknowledges that he needed a crazy race to secure a podium finish.
« We made tough decisions during the race, when we should pit during the first safety car, how to secure fourth place, however, the decisions I made were the right ones and I’m happy about it. It’s a victory for us » explains the Ferrari driver currently 4th in the World Drivers’ Championship.
During the press conference organized by the FIA, the Spaniard acknowledged that the car’s performance had not improved compared to the last races and that luck played a role: « I think the weather and circumstances played an important role. »
However, the Spanish driver was very critical of his performance: “I don’t think this was one of the best races of my career. It was a good race but complex, let’s say, to execute – because there were many challenges to overcome that made the 70 laps anything but straightforward. You have to make decisions during the race, and all of them were made with the team, and I think we did our best.”
The next round of the Formula 1 World Championship will be held at Spa-Francorchamps, a race where the Spaniard finished 2nd in 2013. However, Alonso notes the following: « It will be a very difficult circuit that will give us a lot of problems. »
With his new podium, Fernando Alonso is currently 4th with 115 points, 16 points behind the day’s winner Daniel Ricciardo. In the constructors’ world championship, Scuderia Ferrari takes back 3rd place from Williams with 142 points compared to the English team’s 135 points.
