Sauber: Gutierrez hopes to be renewed for the 2015 season
As Sauber experiences a challenging season despite improvements in recent Grand Prix, Esteban Gutierrez and Adrian Sutil are two drivers on the hot seat. However, the Mexican driver hopes to be retained for the next season with the Swiss team.

Esteban Gutierrez spoke in the columns of Sky Sports where he expressed a strong interest in renewing his contract. The Mexican had a good first season as a rookie by scoring 6 points, and 2014 was about consolidating the Mexican’s status.
The former GP3 champion continues to deliver chaotic performances within the Swiss team, due to a lack of reliability causing problems. Sauber has no points on their scoreboard mid-season.
« It’s something we need to talk about in the coming weeks, » said Gutierrez regarding a possible contract extension for 2015.
Obviously, it’s a topic we will discuss soon. It really matters a lot. It’s true that we’ve been struggling since the start of the season, we won’t be able to reach our goals. It’s hard to keep our motivation intact and control our frustration, he says.
« It’s very exciting for me to be in F1 at only 22 years old, it’s only my 2nd year in Formula 1, and obviously when you start your 2nd year, you have to show what you’re capable of in your second season and so far I’ve struggled to show it. I love challenges, I like challenges, I am in this process, » Gutierrez added.
The two Sauber drivers are not certain of keeping their seats. Former Caterham driver Giedo Van Der Garde and young Italo-Swiss driver Simona Di Silvestro are considered for a seat if they bring enough money to Sauber.
