Jules Bianchi believes that Marussia must be aggressive in the second half of the Formula 1 season to remain in the top 10 in the Constructors’ Championship. Marussia recorded its best performance since 2010 with 2 points earned at the Monaco Grand Prix thanks to Jules Bianchi’s 9th place finish.

If Marussia manages to maintain its 9th place ahead of Sauber and Caterham, the Russian team would receive a financial windfall of 30 million dollars.

« The best way to defend is to attack, and we have always leaned towards attacking. We just need to do everything possible to stay ahead all the time, and I’m sure we will be strong until the end of the season, » Bianchi told Autosport.

« Our goal is to stay ahead of Caterham and finish 10th in the championship, which will be a huge boost for the team » when discussing Marussia’s objective.

Bianchi admitted he is a bit frustrated that Marussia has been less competitive in recent races when it seemed stronger at the beginning of the season.

In Monaco and Canada, the Marussia was close to reaching Q2. Since then, the driver from Nice has managed to take advantage of the problems of Pastor Maldonado and Lewis Hamilton during the German weekend. In Hungary, he capitalized on a strategic error by Ferrari to eliminate Kimi Räikkönen: « It’s a bit frustrating when you have been consistently close to getting into Q2 and it no longer happens. But that’s the reality, you have to deal with it and do your best with what you have. That’s what we’re doing at the moment. »

« The result in Monaco was incredibly important for this season, but I knew it wouldn’t mean we would be able to fight for points. We are not in a position to do that unless there’s a turn of events, but we took the opportunity when it came to us, » concluded the Frenchman about his chance to score points again by the end of the year.
