Lotterer: “Don’t expect too much from me” at Spa
The driver André Lotterer does not expect to perform well this weekend, but despite his advanced age for starting in Formula 1, he believes he is fit for F1.

The three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans André Lotterer replaces Kamui Kobayashi at Spa, the German specifies that the circumstances are unusual. The “interim” Caterham driver has not only driven single-seaters in Japan.
« I have to learn everything very quickly, so don’t expect too much from me. F1 is really dictated by the car and I’m aware that, unfortunately, we don’t have a car capable of winning. But we have innovations and I hope I can bring all my experience and speed by being as fast as possible, » Lotterer said this Thursday at Spa, as quoted by Autosport.
André Lotterer is currently engaged with Caterham for one race, but the last time the current Super Formula driver drove a F1 car was in 2002 when he was a test driver for Jaguar: « Having the chance to drive [in F1] is something special, not everyone gets the chance to do so. I told myself: ‘I have this opportunity, do it.’ It’s a big challenge, I think I have to be quite brave to come into this kind of situation mid-season, but the reasons why I feel ready are that, first of all, I am still racing in single-seaters in Super Formula, which is one of the fastest single-seater championships after F1. »
« I am involved with very complex cars in WEC with Audi. The last time I drove a F1 car was more than ten years ago. The sport has changed and evolved, but on my side, I have also gained a lot of experience, » adds the German driver optimistically.
