Helmut Marko and Carlos Sainz Jr met with Carlos Sainz, and the young Spanish driver received answers to the questions he had. The current leader of the Formula Renault 3.5 championship has received the trust of Red Bull, despite the appointment of Max Verstappen at Toro Rosso for the 2015 season.

The native of Madrid seemed to have the upper hand to be a starter at Toro Rosso next season, but the Dutch driver has overtaken him. The son of the legendary rally driver, Carlos Sainz, is currently leading the Formula Renault 3.5 championship in the World Series by Renault. However, Red Bull’s management were reportedly convinced by the potential of Jos Verstappen’s son, who could become the future Sebastian Vettel.

As a reminder, it initially seemed planned to place the Spanish driver as a regular at Toro Rosso, but the fact that Verstappen did not reach an agreement with Mercedes prompted Red Bull leaders to rush in and try to recruit the Dutchman. Sainz Jr could possibly rebound as a test driver at Caterham if he manages to secure a sponsorship, which is complicated, according to *Marca*.

A source close to the driver spoke in the Iberian newspaper where they expressed concern for the son of the legendary rally driver: « The meeting was positive, Red Bull showed us their confidence and wants to rely on us. However, doubts remain about his future, and we remain concerned. We are in a certain distress because the four seats at Red Bull and Toro Rosso are not available, the possibilities are numerous as one might imagine. »
