Kobayashi saddened by his situation at Caterham
Kamui Kobayashi reflected on his situation at Caterham, sidelined in favor of Lotterer in Belgium and uncertain for the rest of the season.

On the sidelines of the Singapore Grand Prix, Kamui Kobayashi expressed sadness over the current situation of the Caterham team. The Japanese driver made his return to F1 at the beginning of 2014 with Caterham, after a year of absence.
But following the sale of the team by Tony Fernandes, the future of the Japanese driver became more than uncertain. He even had to give up his seat to André Lotterer, an Audi endurance driver, for the Belgian Grand Prix. He nearly didn’t compete in Italy either, but he was finally called back at the last minute.
When interviewed by GPUpdate, Kobayashi appeared resigned: « That’s life, it’s Formula 1 – you can’t avoid it. »
In Italy, even though he did not participate in FP1 – replaced by Roberto Mehri – he still managed to outperform his teammate Marcus Ericsson and the two Marussia drivers in qualifying and the race. But despite good performances, it is not certain he will keep his seat for the rest of the season: « I don’t know [if I will be in the car until the end of the season]. »
The native of Amagasaki also reflected on the first half of the season, which did not live up to his expectations: « It has been an extremely disappointing season. I knew from the start that it would be a difficult season, but it has been so complicated. »
