Honda unveils its hybrid turbo V6
Before its return to the grid in 2015 alongside McLaren F1, Honda unveiled the first image of its hybrid turbo V6.

Honda will make its return to Formula 1 in 2015 alongside the McLaren team. The Japanese manufacturer revealed today the first image of its 1.6L turbo hybrid V6.
Yasuhisa Arai, head of Honda’s research and development department, explained the brand’s progress: « In working towards Honda’s participation in F1 in 2015, the development of the power unit is entering its primary phase at our research and development facilities in Sakura, where we transferred our motorsports department earlier this year. »
« In addition to carrying out simulations, we have moved to the next stage where we conducted tests on the engine bench connected to the turbocharger and energy recovery systems. »
« At the same time, our race operations base in Milton Keynes has become fully operational. Today, we unveil an image of our power unit which is under development. The entire team is focused on this development to be ready for its F1 debut in six months.
Honda also announced the launch of a new page on its website providing more details on turbo-hybrid technology. A video revealing the sound of the Japanese hybrid engine will be unveiled this weekend during the Japanese Grand Prix.
