Alexander Wurz will chair the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA)
After Pedro de la Rosa, it is Alexander Wurz who will take the lead of the GPDA, the Grand Prix Drivers' Association that includes most Formula 1 drivers.

The Austrian endurance driver and former Formula 1 driver for Benetton and Williams, Alexander Wurz, will become the president of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA). He will succeed the Spanish reserve driver for Ferrari, Pedro de la Rosa.
« I am very proud to be called to this responsibility and to have the opportunity to make the GPDA a more united voice for our sport. We know our history; we know what heroes like Stirling [Moss], Niki [Lauda], and Jackie [Stewart], Michael [Schumacher], and Ayrton [Senna] helped build. With the support of Jean [Todt] and Bernie [Ecclestone], the teams, the media, and most importantly, with the support of the fans, the GPDA will now aim to become a more dynamic and positive influence for the future of our sport, » he said on the occasion of this announcement.
Currently a driver for Toyota in the World Endurance Championship, Wurz has outlined a program for the Association that includes greater attention to fans and working with authorities to make races more exciting and improve safety.
Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button remain the directors of the GPDA.
