The young Russian driver managed to convince the Red Bull bosses to give him a chance in F1 after becoming champion in GP3. He left a good impression alongside Jean-Éric Vergne during that season. However, the Russian driver is surprised, quoted by *Sky Sports F1* to have been promoted to Red Bull before Saturday at Suzuka: “This morning [Saturday], when I arrived at the circuit, I am happy, very honored, happy and I must thank Red Bull for this great opportunity.”

Last season when the native of Ufa was appointed at Toro Rosso, he remained involved with Arden, a GP3 team, and had promised to do his utmost. This time, he will do his utmost at Toro Rosso before moving to Red Bull: « I believe first and foremost that I am a racing driver and at every race, I will do my best, I have five races left to compete with Toro Rosso [four after Suzuka]. I will always do my best, but it is of course nice to know where I will be next season. You always think about it a little, but nevertheless I will do my utmost [for Toro Rosso]. »

One of this season’s rookies estimates not being surprised, according to Autosport, that Jean-Éric Vergne was not promoted to Red Bull. According to him, if the Parisian were to be chosen, it should have happened last season: No, I am not surprised. It’s clear that last year they chose Daniel. Jean-Éric is a great driver, he is very fast, it’s clear that last year they chose Daniel. Already this year, we can see that experience itself does not play a big role for Jean-Eric.

« He has been a fantastic reference for me. We worked together, and he helped me to grow. From the beginning, I had a very strong reference, because we know that JEV and Daniel were really close last year, » he continues.”

Kvyat occupies the 15th place in the World Drivers’ Championship, he has finished in the points 5 times after 15 races.
