Fernando Alonso (No. 14) – Retired

The Spaniard is disappointed not to have been able to take part in the Japanese Grand Prix due to an electrical problem after the race restart, as he believes he had a good chance: “It’s really a shame to lose the opportunity to participate in this race because, with nothing to lose in the championship, I could have taken more risks and maybe aimed for a podium. I don’t know yet what caused the technical problem, I just know that suddenly the car lost the electrical system, maybe because of a short circuit caused by the rain. Now, in the remaining four races, the priority is to score as many points as possible because we are still aiming for third place in the constructors’ championship. From this point of view, it would be good if we can use this engine that has hardly run today, without having to use a new one, which would force us to start one of the remaining races from the pit lane.”

But the main thing is elsewhere for him, Jules Bianchi’s health condition: « However, the only good news I now wish for is related to Jules Bianchi. I hope to hear very soon that he is doing well. »

Kimi Räikkönen (No. 7) – 12th

The Finn had a complicated weekend and hopes to bounce back in Russia. But in the meantime, he hopes for good news regarding Jules Bianchi’s condition: « Overall, it was a very disappointing weekend. I had issues with my settings from the first day, and even today, I wasn’t able to drive as I would have liked. After starting behind the safety car, the track conditions were atrocious, and visibility was really poor, but my car handled well. Then, when the rain eased off, I switched to intermediates, but after a few laps, they weren’t up to temperature anymore, and they started causing me problems at the front, which meant I had to slow down. Now, we need to try to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and aim for improvements, starting with the next race, but more importantly right now, let’s hope we get good news from Jules Bianchi soon. »
