Sainz Jr believes he deserves a seat at Toro Rosso for 2015
Carlos Sainz Jr does not yet know what he will do next season, but his goal is clear: Formula 1. The member of Red Bull's young driver program believes he has done what is necessary to deserve a seat alongside Max Verstappen.

Carlos Sainz Jr believes he deserves the vacant seat at Toro Rosso for the 2015 season. Indeed, while Max Verstappen has been confirmed with the Faenza-based team, the name of his teammate is unknown at the moment, following Daniil Kvyat’s promotion to Red Bull after Sebastian Vettel’s departure.
The Spanish driver, who recently won the Formula Renault 3.5 championship title by becoming the youngest to do so with 7 victories – a new record, believes he has done what it takes to secure a seat in F1 next season. “I think I deserve a seat at Toro Rosso, and anything other than a seat at this level [F1] would bore me a bit,” Sainz Jr told Gestiona Radio.
Sainz Jr, 20 years old, believes he deserves his seat even more than Max Verstappen, who is 17 and only has one season of single-seater racing behind him: « Max finished 3rd in the [Formula 3, editor’s note] championship, which was won by another rookie [Esteban Ocon, Lotus driver, editor’s note]. I was in a higher championship, I was the youngest in history to win it, with the record for wins and fastest laps. If Verstappen deserves this seat, then I deserve it even more. »
