Nico Rosberg assures he has room for improvement regarding his lap times after the first day of the United States Grand Prix, during which he finished twice in second position behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

During the first session, Rosberg fell short by two-tenths of the Briton before clocking a time three-thousandths off No. 44 in the afternoon session.

Despite everything, the German displays his confidence and believes he can beat these times: « It’s tight, as usual – three hundredths – but I’ve got them in my pocket. I know where they are, so no worries. I’ll find them tomorrow. It was a good day for us; the car is really fast here again, » he stated Friday evening, quoted by Autosport.

He also experienced a slight problem – complaining of difficulties when changing gears – but it seems it was his own doing: « I lifted my leg and hit the clutch pedal. My foot was itching. Could you imagine all the things that would happen! So it turned into a small problem. I must make sure not to lift my foot when I have an itch… »

Alerted by the problems of Lewis Hamilton at the end of FP2, Nico Rosberg did not hide his concern while showing his confidence in Mercedes: « Obviously, it is worrying to see his car experience an issue. We need to see what it is and fix it. Hopefully, it will not affect the race. I have full confidence in the team, but obviously it is not ideal. This shows that our car is still not 100% robust. »
