United States Grand Prix: Vettel Changes His Entire Hybrid Unit
Before the qualifying session for the United States Grand Prix of F1, MotorsInside.com offers you an update on each driver's quota regarding each element of the V6 turbo hybrid unit, as well as gearbox changes.

The United States Grand Prix is an opportunity to review the mechanical components that have been changed since the start of the season. Thus, through several official documents, the FIA allows tracking of all replacement operations carried out on the cars throughout a race weekend.
This season, such a series of information is of utmost importance, as the Sporting Regulations (article 28.4a) require teams to adhere to a maximum quota of five power units per car, which include a series of parts that can themselves be replaced individually, within the limit of five. These parts are:
– le moteur thermique
– le turbocompresseur
– la batterie
– le MGU-K
– le MGU-H
– l’unité de contrôle électronique (UCE)
Beyond these quotas, penalties of 5 or 10 grid places can be applied. In the extreme case of a complete block change, the driver must start from the pits.
Two important pieces of information should be noted: obviously, the fact that Sebastian Vettel has installed his sixth complete engine of the season. Therefore, he will start from the pit lane. Next, as they were the last to not have fitted their 5th engine, the Force India drivers did so in Austin.
Outside of the power unit, some drivers have installed a new gearbox: this is the case, without penalty, for Pastor Maldonado, Kevin Magnussen, Adrian Sutil, Esteban Gutierrez, and Daniil Kvyat. On the other hand, Jenson Button, whose gearbox did not last six consecutive Grand Prix races, will start with a 5-place grid penalty.
Thus, before the qualifying session, here are all the components used by the drivers since the start of the season.
