Austin: A collision ends the hopes of points for Sutil and Sauber F1
Qualified in the top 10, Adrian Sutil hoped to convert this good starting position into points at the finish in Austin to finally get the Sauber F1 team's tally going. But it didn't go as planned, as the German was taken out following contact with Sergio Perez.

Adrian Sutil started full of hope from 9th place on the starting grid in Austin, after his first Q3 of the year. But the return to reality was harsh for the German, who was hit in the first lap by Sergio Perez and had to retire due to this contact.
« Unfortunately, it was a short race. I got a good start and I was in a promising position. Unfortunately, Sergio hit my car, which was really unnecessary. It’s very disappointing to lose our greatest chance of points because of this attempt, » Sutil shared after the United States GP.
On the other side of the Swiss team’s garage, Esteban Gutierrez wasn’t able to aim for the same goal as his teammate. The Mexican finished in 14th place, far from the points: « It was a challenge to make the tires work after the safety car intervention. We lost a lot of time in that stint. It’s difficult when you have to push on every lap of the race. Not being able to manage the tires like the other drivers put us in a critical situation. »
Gutierrez still hopes to see the Sauber F1 team score points by the end of the season, but the margin for error is greatly decreasing: From now on, we must keep our focus on Brazil and Abu Dhabi, where I think we will have a chance to score points.
