Hamilton and Alonso hope that Button will be in F1 in 2015

Jenson Button seems to have an uncertain future in Formula 1, but some drivers hope that the 2009 world champion will still be there in 2015, starting with his former teammate Lewis Hamilton and one of his rivals, Fernando Alonso.

Jenson Button’s future in Formula 1 is uncertain for next season, with the Briton apparently still waiting for a proposal from the McLaren team in particular. Given this wait, he might be interested in looking elsewhere, with or without an offer from the Woking team.

The World Endurance Championship could be an option for the 2009 world champion if he wishes to leave Formula 1. However, some drivers believe Button deserves to be in F1, including Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, who hope to see the Briton continue in the pinnacle of motorsport next season.

« He is a very talented driver, we have seen it throughout his career, and he is a good person. We need people like him in F1. I hope he will be there next year, » Alonso confided, who had replaced Button at Renault F1 in 2003 and could replace him at McLaren in 2015, to reporters at Interlagos, cited by Reuters.

Same observation for Lewis Hamilton, who stated to journalists at Interlagos, as quoted by Reuters, that his compatriot has proven his worth in the past: « He still has a lot of time as a driver to keep racing and winning. He just needs a better car. It’s not the team that needs a better driver. There aren’t many on the track. They need a better car. »

It’s [strange] because Jenson is better than many drivers. He’s a great driver. He’s had an incredible career, and he’s still one of the best drivers. If I had a team, I’d like to have him. He’s a great asset for any team. He’s also a good person, » added Hamilton, who was alongside Button for three years at McLaren and could be the only Brit in F1 in 2015 if Button changes direction.
