Kvyat and Vergne fall behind with Toro Rosso in Brazil
The Toro Rosso drivers did not experience a particularly interesting qualifying session, with Jean-Eric Vergne being eliminated in Q1 after a lack of running on Friday, and Daniil Kvyat deciding not to run in Q2 due to the penalty received in Austin.

Daniil Kvyat qualified for Q2 during the Brazilian GP qualifying, but the Russian decided, in conjunction with his team, not to run in this second part of qualifying due to his grid penalty following an engine change in Austin: « Tomorrow, I will start from the back of the grid because of the penalty received at the United States Grand Prix, but in Austin, we proved that we can fight for points even when starting from difficult situations. I did a good lap in Q1 but, considering the grid penalty, we decided not to go out in Q2, even though I think I could have clearly fought for Q3. »
The young Russian, who will start from 17th position on the grid, remains confident and will aim for points in the race tomorrow.
Jean-Eric Vergne, on the other hand, was eliminated right in Q1, the first part of the qualifying session because he couldn’t fully feel comfortable with his Toro Rosso: « Not having covered many kilometers to prepare for today’s qualifying session, I couldn’t get the best out of the car, which was very difficult to drive. It’s not an easy circuit, and there are many corners where you can lose a lot of time if you don’t have the right balance. »
The Frenchman, who will start from the 15th position on the grid, will give his all to climb up in the race tomorrow and will try to take advantage of the various opportunities that may arise for him, such as unpredictable weather.
