Massa: Hamilton deserves the title
Felipe Massa has no intention of helping either of the Mercedes drivers in their fight for the title. However, the Brazilian believes that of the two men, Lewis Hamilton is the one who most deserves to be crowned this season.
The Williams drivers are competitive this year and Nico Rosberg knows it. The German is counting on the two drivers from the Grove team to help him claim his title by getting between him and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton in Abu Dhabi. After the Brazilian GP, the Mercedes driver revealed that he needed a bit of help from Felipe Massa to increase his chances of winning the title this season.
But the Brazilian, who finished 3rd at home last Sunday, doesn’t see things that way. Indeed, he has no intention of helping anyone win the title in Abu Dhabi: “I’m not helping anyone. I told him: I want to win the race, not help you! No one helped me when I could have won the championship, in fact, a certain German hindered me [Glock, thus offering the title to Hamilton in 2008, Editor’s note].”
Reminder: everything is still to play for with the title, as Lewis Hamilton is only 17 points ahead of Nico Rosberg before the final race of the season next weekend in Abu Dhabi, where points count double and the winner will therefore earn 50 points.
Massa even believes that Lewis Hamilton deserves the title more than Rosberg due to his performances this season – 10 wins to 5 for the Briton in particular: « I think Hamilton really deserves the championship. But sometimes, things turn out differently, as we’ve seen several times. »
