Hamilton: My lead doesn’t guarantee me the title
Lewis Hamilton knows that his 17-point lead does not allow him to approach the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi with confidence since there are 50 points to be earned - a novelty due to the doubling of points. However, the Briton is confident in his abilities and believes he is faster than Rosberg.

Lewis Hamilton believes he has an advantage over Nico Rosberg in terms of race pace, but he is not resting on his laurels because he knows that nothing is guaranteed before the championship final in Abu Dhabi in about ten days.
The German driver reduced the gap to 17 points following his victory in Brazil last Sunday, but with still 50 points available for the final race of the 2014 season, everything is still up for grabs. Despite his lead in the standings, Hamilton knows nothing is guaranteed: « There is no comfort before the next race. There are 50 points to be won, it has never really happened in Formula 1 before. It only happens this season and in the last race, you never know what is going to happen. I will approach the last race to win, as usual. »
Rosberg beat Hamilton for the pole in Brazil – and overall for the season, 10 pole positions for the German against 7 for the Brit so far – but the 2008 world champion is confident in his abilities and he knows he is faster than his teammate: “I was pushing to win, as in every race. I was never close enough. I tried but I couldn’t get close enough. I was attacking like in every race weekend and I don’t feel like I took unnecessary risks. I am faster in races, that’s clear. In qualifying sometimes I do things well, sometimes not. I know I can be fast, and I know I can be faster.”
There have been 5 Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix held so far, and on the Yas Marina circuit, the advantage is clearly on Lewis Hamilton’s side – 2 pole positions (2009, 2012), 1 fastest lap (2010), 1 victory (2011), and a podium, 2nd in 2010 – compared to a less impressive record for his German teammate – a podium, 3rd in 2014.
