Author of a flawless final race in 2014, Jenson Button may be bowing out today. But he proves that he has lost none of his flair.

Lacking the pace to attack the cars ahead of him, Jenson Button believes the McLaren team did the best they could: « Fifth was the best we could hope for. Getting the most out of the car is all you can ask from a racing driver, and this year I have proven that I am still at my best. »

Then, he thanks his team and his engineers in what resembles a farewell statement to Formula 1. « Since it’s the last race of the season, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Tom [Stallard] and Bernie [Collins], my two race engineers, who have done a fantastic job this year, as have all my mechanics. The whole team has given me a lot of support, which is lovely. »

Button did not fail to congratulate his former McLaren teammate and new World Champion, Lewis Hamilton: « It was a good day for me, but an even better day for my former teammate, Lewis. Winning two world titles is an absolutely incredible achievement. Congratulations to him – he deserves it. »
