Pirelli: Hembery thinks that F1 will gain more than a second in 2015
Paul Hembery expressed satisfaction with the performance of Pirelli tires in Abu Dhabi. He even believes that the F1 cars will gain more than one second per lap.

Paul Hembery, head of Pirelli Motorsport, believes that the 2015 F1 cars will gain more than a second per lap compared to previous versions.
During the private tests in Abu Dhabi, the teams were able to test the tires so that Pirelli could collect data in anticipation of the winter tests in Jerez scheduled for February.
« Our objectives with the 2015 tires remain the same as they have always been: to ensure teams make between two and three stops per race. Of course, one of the biggest factors will be how the cars improve: next year, we expect to see cars that will be one second per lap or more faster than the 2014 cars, which will obviously have an impact on tire behavior, » explains Paul Hembery to Crash.net.
Paul Hembery reflected on the developments of Pirelli tires during the tests in Abu Dhabi:
« We were very happy to hear the initial impressions of the drivers on our new tires, which suggest that the improvements we were looking for are already effective. We made a few small modifications: particularly to the belt area of the rear tire which is in the footprint. This new arrangement optimizes the temperature distribution across the tire to distribute heat more evenly, which should lead to more consistent performance and better traction. We also have a new super-soft compound at the rear designed to improve mechanical resistance » he concluded.
