Todt: Verstappen is too young for F1
Toro Rosso has chosen to give Max Verstappen his chance in 2015, allowing him to make his Formula 1 debut at just 17 years old, an age that some consider too young, including the latest to say so, Jean Todt.

Max Verstappen, a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, has been chosen by the energy drink brand to race for the Toro Rosso team next season, even though he will only be 17 years old and has just one season of single-seater experience behind him.
The Dutchman, who recently revealed the number he has chosen for his career in F1, has continuously been in the spotlight since the announcement, due to his young age. The latest person to give their opinion is Jean Todt, President of the FIA, who believes that Verstappen is too young to start in F1 in 2015.
« Personally, I think he is too young. A few days ago at the World Council held in Qatar, we changed the criteria for the super license. Starting from 2016, a driver will not be able to obtain it until they are able to drive a car on public roads. I think it is a logical solution, » Todt told RAI.
Todt indeed refers to the various decisions made by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, including the one that will require a driver to be at least 18 years old to be eligible for a Super License, an essential prerequisite for driving in Formula 1.
