Robin Frijns leaves the Caterham F1 team
Robin Frijns is no longer a member of the Caterham F1 team, which is still under administration. Indeed, the contract binding the Dutchman to the F1 team ended in recent days.

Robin Frijns, test driver for the Caterham F1 team, announced yesterday, Monday, the end of the contract linking him to the British-Malaysian team, which is still in administration and whose future is therefore more than uncertain.
After winning the Formula Renault 3.5 title at the end of 2012, the Dutch driver had the opportunity to test a Red Bull and a Sauber, with the Swiss team deciding to recruit him as a test and reserve driver for the 2013 season. However, the partnership only lasted one season, with Frijns managing to bounce back at Caterham in the same role for the 2014 season.
However, with the financial difficulties faced by the Leafield team, Frijns decided not to continue his contract – despite a 2014 season where he had the opportunity to drive an F1 car during pre-season testing and during the FP1 sessions in Bahrain and Great Britain.
« I would like to thank and say goodbye to all the members of Caterham, with whom I have worked these past 12 months. I am keeping my fingers crossed that there is a future for this team in Formula 1 in 2015 and beyond. I would like to especially thank the former team director Cyril Abiteboul, whom I consider as the one who gave me the chance to be part of this team, » said Frijns, quoted by GPUpdate.
The Dutchman has not yet announced his plans for the 2015 season but he could turn to the DTM, having recently tested a BMW from this championship.
