Pastor Maldonado doesn’t pay much attention to the criticism
Pastor Maldonado reflected on his reputation in F1, with the Venezuelan driver admitting that he doesn't pay much attention to criticism. He also talked about his move to Lotus from Williams.

Pastor Maldonado sets aside the critics from F1 fans, the Venezuelan insists that he doesn’t feel embarrassed and prefers to focus on the people who support him. The former Williams driver’s reputation precedes him, between the accidents and the financial support he has, Pastor Maldonado is often criticized on social media. However, during the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix, Pastor Maldonado managed to secure an unexpected victory at the wheel of his Williams.
The former teammate of Valtteri Bottas sees no reason to take criticism to heart, drawing a parallel with Fernando Alonso: It’s impossible to consider all the remarks people make. I appreciate the people who support me, who are numerous, especially in my country and in Latin America. Even in Europe, I have many fans, particularly in Italy because I spent my entire junior career there.
« Of course, there are comments that I don’t like, but I can’t do anything about it. It’s good to be free to speak and say what you think. There are people who are happy with Alonso, but some people say he is arrogant when he talks. He’s a good guy in my opinion and he’s a wonderful driver. There is the public’s view which gives its opinion, but there are also good comments and bad ones, but it doesn’t matter to me, » he adds for *Autosport*.
Romain Grosjean’s teammate believes that all drivers make mistakes: « We are human beings. Even Daniel Ricciardo had an accident in Suzuka, it’s not just me. You can make mistakes, especially when you’re racing, working hard, and when you don’t have a very stable car, it’s even worse. »
The Venezuelan reflects on his arrival at the Enstone team in early 2014: « I had just come off a really tough season with Williams, it was a very difficult time in the team and Lotus was the best option on the market. The team was great, they were very competitive in 2013 until the last race. This year we couldn’t improve as we wanted. But at the same time I said OK, maybe life put me here to prepare for the future. I think I showed everyone, when I had the opportunity to do my job, that I delivered. »
