At the end of his 2014 season, Alex Lynn secured a test with the Lotus F1 team after the Abu Dhabi GP – a test without a future apparently, but according to him, a great opportunity might be close to materializing.

« There is a good opportunity that should come very soon. It should be within two or three weeks, » he told Skysports.

For the 2015 season, Alex Lynn takes the place of Jolyon Palmer with the French team DAMS in GP2 and will have as a teammate another Red Bull protégé, the Frenchman Pierre Gasly.

«To be honest, my goal is to reach Formula 1 and become world champion. GP2 is the place where all the best drivers go and where I need to showcase my skills. I found the best opportunity by driving for DAMS – I think they are the best team by a good margin – and I have a chance to do well. Of course, the competition will be fierce: Stoffel [Vandoorne, McLaren protégé] will be a great rival at ART, but I think with Pierre Gasly we will have a good chance to perform well. »

Pirelli supports the transition of the GP3 champion to GP2 and has thus paid 200,000 euros to help him access the higher category on his path to F1, Paul Hembery commented on the Brit’s season: « We are delighted that Alex Lynn can logically progress from the GP3 title to GP2 with Pirelli. His performances in 2014 demonstrated his potential and we are excited by the prospect of watching the next step of his career using Pirelli tires and are pleased to have been able to contribute to his 2015 competitive campaign. »
