Sauber F1 presents its new C34

Sauber presented the C34 on Friday, which will have the mission to make people forget the C33 and its very poor season during which no points were scored by the Swiss team, a first since its entry into F1.

No surprise, the single-seater swapped the grey and red for blue and yellow, prominently featuring the new sponsor Banco do Brasil, which came along with Felipe Nasr.

The 2015 season will have to be better as Monisha Kaltenborn explains in the statement: « 2014 was a very disappointing season, it’s in the past, and we must now focus on what’s coming. We have learned from our lessons and we are confident for this new season. We have to improve and be able to fight for points. »

Marcus Ericsson, arriving from Caterham, does not yet know what to expect from his new car, but the Swede hopes to fight for points also in 2015: « I am delighted to be a member of the Sauber F1 team. After a difficult season, we want to move forward and fight in the midfield as before. From a driver’s perspective, I want to continue learning and improving as a Formula 1 driver. I feel I’m in a perfect environment to achieve that. In Formula 1, it’s difficult to have precise objectives because it depends on the overall package. It is clear that we want to fight for points. »

Same goal for his Brazilian teammate, Felipe Nasr: « For my first season, there is a lot to learn, especially because I have never raced on certain tracks. Overall, I am ready to take on the challenge. In my role as a reserve and test driver with Williams last year, I was involved in every race weekend. Moreover, I had the opportunity to drive the car several times, so I think I have some understanding of Formula 1. Now I move to the next step by being a race driver, and I look forward to bringing my 2014 experience to help the Sauber F1 team get back in the points. »
