A technical problem sends Maldonado into the wall

Unlike last year, Lotus had good tests and that even after missing the first day in Jerez. However, the British team saw its last day of running end earlier than planned due to a mechanical issue.

As he was starting his 36th lap of the day, Pastor Maldonado went straight into turn 4 of the Barcelona circuit, ending up in the tire wall. A braking system problem prevented the Venezuelan from taking the turn properly. Despite this, Maldonado is satisfied with the tests conducted by his team since the beginning of February and is eager to start the race in Melbourne.

« It’s a shame to have finished the day earlier than expected, but that was the only problem we encountered during these tests, explains Maldonado. « We must focus on the positive since we have a lot of information to advance the car. »

« Without this problem, we had planned to make a few stints with the soft tires to achieve some good lap times. I think this year’s car has good potential. »
