Vettel: Ricciardo proved that Mercedes can be beaten
As the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship season kicks off this Sunday at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, Mercedes once again appears to be in a strong position following a smoothly conducted 2014 campaign.
New recruit for Scuderia Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel believes that they should model themselves on what Daniel Ricciardo did last year to be able to claim victory against the Silver Arrows.
« We have made progress this year, we still need to discover to what extent, » explains Vettel. « We saw last year with Daniel Ricciardo that it was possible to beat Mercedes. If we find ourselves in a good position and something happens, we will be ready. I’m sure they don’t want that, but it’s something that can happen to all drivers and all teams. »
Last year, Daniel Ricciardo won three times (Montreal, Budapest, and Spa-Francorchamps). During these three Grand Prix races, the Australian capitalized on the problems faced by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to climb to the top step of the podium.
